- Will
Slocombe
is a third-year undergraduate filmmaker, double-majoring
in political science and cinema studies, whose films have appeared
at festivals nationwide and is currently directing Crime
Fiction, a feature film being produced on HD in Chicago and northwest
Indiana;
- Ben
Kolak is
a third-year undergraduate filmmaker and the current head of Fire
Escape Films, the University of Chicago's student filmmaking organization
previously headed by 5401/5406 alumni including Tony Gannon (1998-2000),
Jeff Sousa (2001-2002), and Jon Cowperthwait (2002-2003);
- Graham
Ballou is
a third-year undergraduate filmmaker majoring
in cinema studies, who grew up in the same Minnesota
town as 5406 alumna Kirsten Johnson and is currently producing Crime
Fiction with
Messers. Cowperthwait and Kolak;
- Alex
MacKenzie is
a third-year undergraduate filmmaker who shot Mr. Slocombe's 2003 ...And
The Pursuit Of Happiness and whose latest project is Thax,
a feature-length documentary about Chicago's indie rock poet Thax
Douglas;
- Jonathan
Cowperthwait (5406us Emeritus)
is a fourth-year (and counting...) undergraduate filmmaker,
allegedly majoring in political science, who first worked with Ms. Johnson
on the infamous Out Of My Head and played Jimmy
Thwaitcowper in Mr. Slocombe's award-winning Stroke
Mechanics;
- Jesse
Friedman (5406us Emeritus) is
a high school colleague of Mr. Cowperthwait in Northern California,
a newly graduated linguisticistan, and a Crime
Fiction associate
producer, who
really likes cooking and sort of likes doing dishes;
- Kirsten
Johnson (5406us Emeritus)
is a third-year history undergraduate who
came from The 5401 back in the day and still uses The 5406 as
a business centre / dining hall / answering service / crash pad
while shooting Crime Fiction;
- Additionally,
you can expect frequent
guest appearances by the Serbs, two female chem grad
students who sublet at The 5406 in summer '04 and liked it enough to
move in next-door, three female undergrads who
live nearby and visit to cook and eat, and Maddie McLeester,
whom you'll meet soon enough;

few people smoke, but only outside.
